MIH Home Services LLC has begun work on a phased renovation and exterior improvement project at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, valued at $2 million. The project includes the installation of new roofs and gutters, exterior painting of designated housing, replacement of existing front porch stoops and sidewalks, and improvements to asphalt driveways and designated road surfaces. Work is already underway and will continue in coordinated phases until the approved project scope is completed.
Honored to Serve a United States Military Community
MIH Home Services is humbled to have been selected for this major, multidisciplinary assignment. More importantly, our team is honored to support the men and women of the United States military and their families. Military housing is more than a collection of buildings. These residences, sidewalks, driveways, and neighborhood roads are part of the communities military families use every day. This makes respectful project management especially important. Each phase must be planned and coordinated with consideration for residents, access, property protection, safety, scheduling, and the continued operation of the surrounding community.
“We are humbled to have been selected for a project of this size and complexity,” said MIH founder and owner Andrew A. “Drew” Altman Sr. “More importantly, we are honored to work in support of the United States military and the families who live in these communities. That responsibility is something our team takes very seriously.”
Background Screening and Installation Access
Working at an active military installation requires additional responsibility and preparation. MIH personnel assigned to the Fort Belvoir project must complete the applicable background screening and access authorization process required for the assignment. Those requirements help ensure that the people entering authorized work areas have been carefully reviewed and approved. MIH respects the importance of these procedures and will not publish specific residence locations, detailed work schedules, access procedures, credentials, or other installation-sensitive information.
Progress photographs included with project updates will show only authorized work activity and will be reviewed to avoid disclosing sensitive information.
A Multiphase Project Requiring Several Skilled Trades
Projects of this size require more than skilled tradespeople. They require careful planning, clearly defined scopes of work, consistent communication, quality control, and close coordination among multiple crews. Because the improvements are taking place within residential communities, MIH Home Services is organizing the work to help protect the properties, support safe access, and minimize unnecessary disruption.
The project-management plan emphasizes:
- Careful scheduling and sequencing
- Coordination among roofing, painting, concrete, and asphalt crews
- Property and work-area protection
- Communication with authorized project representatives
- Quality-control reviews throughout each phase
- Compliance with applicable access, safety, and site requirements
- Respect for the people who live in the communities being improved
Specific residence locations, work schedules, access procedures, and other installation-sensitive information will not be publicly disclosed.
New Roofs and Gutters
As a GAF Certified roofing contractor, MIH Home Services brings manufacturer-recognized roofing credentials to the roof and gutter portion of the project. Roof replacement involves much more than installing the visible roofing surface. Depending on the approved specifications, the work may also require coordination of underlayment, flashing, ventilation, roof edges, penetrations, gutters, downspouts, property protection, and cleanup. MIH will coordinate each phase according to the authorized project schedule, approved specifications, and applicable site requirements.
Exterior Painting
The Fort Belvoir project also includes exterior painting of designated housing.
A successful exterior painting project depends on proper planning and preparation. The work must account for existing surface conditions, weather, access, protection of surrounding areas, and coordination with roofing, gutters, windows, doors, trim, and other exterior components. MIH’s goal is to complete each approved painting phase with careful preparation, consistent workmanship, and close attention to the homes and surrounding property.
Front Porch Stoops and Sidewalks
Existing front porch stoops and sidewalks included in the project will be replaced in planned phases. Concrete work around residential properties requires thoughtful coordination. Removal and replacement activities can affect entrances, pedestrian routes, and normal access to the home. The work must also allow appropriate time for preparation, installation, curing, and the safe return of each area to everyday use.
MIH will coordinate these activities with authorized project representatives and communicate applicable access requirements throughout the project.
Asphalt Driveways and Designated Road Improvements
The contract also includes improvements to asphalt driveways and designated road surfaces within the Fort Belvoir project area. Asphalt projects require planning for equipment, surface preparation, vehicle access, work-zone safety, scheduling, and the amount of time needed before completed areas can return to normal use. Completing the work in phases allows MIH to coordinate the driveway and road improvements with the broader project schedule and the needs of the surrounding residential communities.
More Than 40 Years of Home-Services Experience
MIH Home Services founder and owner Andrew A. “Drew” Altman Sr. brings more than four decades of home-services, business-leadership, and customer-service experience to the Fort Belvoir project. “MIH is honored to be entrusted with a project of this size and responsibility,” Drew said. “The scope involves several different trades, but the standard is the same across every phase: define the work clearly, coordinate carefully, communicate consistently, and follow through on every commitment.”
Before establishing MIH Home Services, Drew founded and led a regional home-services company that earned more than 700 five-star Google reviews under his leadership. That experience reinforced the principles Drew has carried into MIH: give customers straight answers, develop practical solutions, manage projects accountably, and follow through on the commitments made.
“This is a major milestone for MIH Home Services, but the dollar value is only one part of the story,” Drew said. “These are homes, sidewalks, driveways, and neighborhood roads that people use every day. Our responsibility is to complete the approved work safely, respectfully, and with close attention to the people and properties affected by each phase.”
Bringing the “Make It Happen” Philosophy to a Major Project
MIH stands for Make It Happen, one of Drew’s personal mantras and the operating philosophy behind the company. Making it happen does not mean rushing through a project or making promises that cannot be kept. It means taking responsibility, finding practical solutions, coordinating the right people and resources, communicating clearly, and following through. The Fort Belvoir project gives MIH an opportunity to apply that philosophy to a large, multidisciplinary assignment involving several forms of residential and community improvement work.
